Without yeast and baking: how to make an airy poppy seed cake for tea
If you're not in the mood for baking and fiddling with dough today, a simple poppy seed pie in a pan is the perfect solution. As you can imagine, you don't have to turn on the oven, and the dough for the dessert is very simple to prepare: you just need to mix everything. During the cooking process, the cake rises well and turns out to be very fluffy.
Food blogger Viktoriia Kelbas (kelbas_v) shared a recipe for a poppy seed pie on her Instagram page that can be easily prepared in a frying pan.
Ingredients for a 24-26 cm frying pan:
- eggs – 3 pcs
- sugar – 180 g
- vanilla sugar – 10 g
- salt – 0.5 tsp
- sunflower oil – 100 ml
- milk – 200 ml
- flour – 300 g
- poppy seeds – 2 tbsp
- baking powder – 18 g
Method of preparation:
1. First, beat the eggs with sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt until creamy. You can use a regular whisk instead of a mixer.
2. Pour milk and oil into the resulting mass. Mix well.
3. Mix flour, poppy seeds, and baking powder separately. In several stages, pour the bulk ingredients into the egg-milk mixture. Mix well.
4. Next, cover the bottom of the pan with parchment, grease it, and the sides with vegetable oil. Pour in the dough.
5. Shake the pan a little so that the cake rises evenly. Bake under the lid over slightly lower than medium heat for 25-30 minutes.
6. As soon as the edges of the cake are dry, turn the cake over to the other side and bake under the lid for another 20-25 minutes.
7. Decorate the finished cake.
