With arugula and pear: recipe for Queen Elizabeth II's favorite salad

Tetiana KoziukLS Food

It is rumored that Queen Elizabeth II of England was not too fussy about food. However, like everyone else, she had her weaknesses - the monarch was simply delighted with dishes that include bitter arugula. And what better way to combine such greens than in salads?

A salad with arugule, pear and cheese was the Queen's favorite salad and a dish for those who want to feel like a real gourmet. The classic recipe uses the main English cheese, Stilton. Alternatively, you can use blue cheese.

What else to use to make the favorite salad of late Queen Elizabeth II of England is described in the culinary blog kulinarniy_genii on Instagram.

Ingredients:

  • pear - 6 pcs.
  • butter - 1 tbsp.
  • honey - 4 tbsp
  • young arugula - 125 g
  • olive oil - 5 tbsp
  • blue mold cheese - 200 g
  • walnuts
  • salt and pepper

Method of preparation:

1. Cut the pears in half and remove the center. Cut half of the pears into thick slices and the rest into thin slices.

2. Heat a frying pan. Add butter and honey. Wait until the caramel begins to boil.

3. Add the pear slices and caramelize over high heat for 4-5 minutes until golden brown.

4. Season the arugula with olive oil, salt and pepper. Mix with pieces of cheese and slices of pear. Stir.

5. Put the salad on a plate and garnish with caramelized pears and walnuts.
