Why everyone should eat herring: Svitlana Fus explains
The most budget-friendly and delicious fish is herring. It can be used to make delicious sandwiches, salads, forshmak, and can also be eaten simply with onions and oil. It is worth noting that herring is very healthy, it contains all the necessary vitamins and minerals, and it is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids and iodine.
Nutritionist Svitlana Fus explained on Facebook why everyone should eat herring, as well as how much and how often you can eat it per week.
The nutritionist noted that with a daily requirement of 1 to 1.5 g per day, 100 g of herring contains 2.4 g.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for proper nutrition because they are not produced in the body and are important for health:
DHA, a type of omega-3 fatty acid, is a valuable structural component of the brain and retina.
Fuss added that eating herring has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system for several reasons: they can lower triglycerides, increase HDL cholesterol, prevent loss of arterial elasticity, and effectively reduce inflammation.
"People who regularly consume omega-3 fatty acids are less likely to suffer from depression, and they also improve the condition of our skin, keeping it soft, moist, and elastic, preventing premature wrinkles," the nutritionist explained.
The expert noted that eating just 100 g of this fish will provide almost half of the daily dose of this essential element, which is important for thyroid function and selenium.
"Herring contains powerful antioxidants: vitamin E and selenium. Both of these nutrients are important for the immune system. They help to minimize the damage caused by free radicals," summarized Fuss.
"This fish has everything we should be eating it for minerals, vitamins, amino acids, healthy fats," Fus added.
