Olives are a must-have, healthy ingredient that nutritionists advise you to include in your diet, especially in the fall. They contain many vitamins and essential nutrients that the body needs.

Nutritionist Olha Bezugla told on Instagram who, how, and how much olives can and should be eaten.

Nutritionist talks about the benefits of olives

To begin with, olives are a product with a high oil content.

The pulp of the berries contains about 90% of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are not produced in the human body on their own and hardly accumulate. Therefore, the product is fatty, but fatty foods are good for satiating and controlling hunger and have little or no effect on the synthesis of hormones (associated with weight gain).

The nutritionist noted that olives are not eaten raw, as they are very bitter. But she advised to soak them in an alkaline solution to remove the bitterness and to add flavor, they are kept in brine.

In the presence of oxygen, the phenols contained in the fruit are oxidized and the olives darken (olives). So black olives (olives) may just be ripe olives.

The expert noted that olives are rich in many plant compounds, including antioxidants, among others:

  • Oleuropein
  • Hydroxytyrosol
  • Tyrosol
  • quercitin
  • squalene

Bezuglova also added that you shouldn't get carried away with them, because they are salty and canned.

There are a lot of benefits, the product is good, but all the benefits come from using it in moderation. It's important to remember that this is a canned product and quite salty (3-4 grams of salt per 100 grams), so use it in moderation.

The expert measured out that the daily allowance of this product is no more than 10 berries.

You should not abuse this product
