Why and who should definitely eat olives – the nutritionist gave an answer
Olives are a must-have, healthy ingredient that nutritionists advise you to include in your diet, especially in the fall. They contain many vitamins and essential nutrients that the body needs.
Nutritionist Olha Bezugla told on Instagram who, how, and how much olives can and should be eaten.
To begin with, olives are a product with a high oil content.
The nutritionist noted that olives are not eaten raw, as they are very bitter. But she advised to soak them in an alkaline solution to remove the bitterness and to add flavor, they are kept in brine.
The expert noted that olives are rich in many plant compounds, including antioxidants, among others:
- Oleuropein
- Hydroxytyrosol
- Tyrosol
- quercitin
- squalene
Bezuglova also added that you shouldn't get carried away with them, because they are salty and canned.
The expert measured out that the daily allowance of this product is no more than 10 berries.
