Who is not allowed to eat buckwheat and what happens if you eat only buckwheat: the expert explains. Exclusive
Alyona Yudina, a nutritionist and consultant, spoke about whether you should eat buckwheat every day and who should give up the cereal. After all, this product is present in the diet of many people, and it is cooked quite often.
In an exclusive commentary for OBOZREVATEL, the expert spoke about the buckwheat mono-diet. She revealed all its features and rules.
If we take into account a balanced diet, then it will not be so with buckwheat alone. It is worth remembering that to enrich the body with vitamins and minerals in sufficient quantities, food should be varied. Eating only one cereal in question is not enough.
Buckwheat once a week
But there is a so-called mono-diet. It consists in eating only buckwheat once a week during the day. Some people do not even add salt but simply eat it in its pure form. During this period, the gastrointestinal tract rests and the body is cleansed. This effect is due to fiber, which is present in many whole grains. A buckwheat fasting day will be useful for those who do not really follow their diet but want to improve the state of the body.
When buckwheat is not worth eating
This cereal should be avoided in case of bloating, as it can aggravate this process. The expert also does not recommend buckwheat in case of intestinal diseases.
Special beneficial properties of buckwheat
Thanks to its fiber, buckwheat cleanses the body like a brush from the inside, especially for those who like refined carbohydrates (buns, sweets, candy) and meat. People with intestinal diseases are not recommended to eat buckwheat.
A nutritionist advises cooking buckwheat to make it useful:
- First of all, you need to rinse it.
- Drain the water.
- Add clean water and leave it for 1-2 hours.
- Then drain the liquid again and rinse the cereal well with clean water.
- Only then boil it.
What is it for
Olena explains that cereals contain phytic acid, which prevents the absorption of vitamins and minerals. During the soaking process, phytic acid is washed out.
The expert concludes that a balanced diet should be varied in terms of cereals: buckwheat today, rice tomorrow, and corn porridge the day after tomorrow, because the body absorbs different vitamins and minerals from different cereals.
Boiled buckwheat can be consumed not only in its pure form but also as a complete dish. The idea of buckwheat in tomato sauce was shared by food blogger cooking_by_mk on her Instagram page.
