What you should do with buckwheat before cooking so that it is flavorful and crumbly
You can cook the usual buckwheat in a new way, namely with meat or stew and vegetables. This dish can be cooked for lunch or dinner for the whole family because it is very satisfying and tasty.
Food blogger Yuliia Mykulych shared a recipe for delicious buckwheat with meat and some life hacks for cooking the cereal on her Instagram page.
1. To make the buckwheat crumbly and flavorful, lightly fry it in a pan before cooking.
2. Any meat will do, but remember that the cooking time will depend on the type and size of the pieces. Stewing pork takes 40 minutes, while turkey or chicken are fried for half as long.
Ingredients:
- buckwheat - 250 g
- meat (pork in this recipe) -500 g
- onion - 200 g
- carrots - 150 g
- ketchup (hot chili in this recipe) - 100 g
- water - 500 g + 150-250 g
- soy sauce - 40 g
- garlic - 1-2 cloves
- salt, paprika, black and red pepper, herbs or other spices
Method of preparation:
1. Wash the buckwheat, dry it and fry it in a dry pan for 5 minutes.
2. Cut the meat and fry until lightly golden.
3. Chop the onion and carrot. Add to the meat and fry together for a few minutes.
4. Add ketchup and fry for another 1-2 minutes.
5. Put the ingredients in a saucepan, add 500 ml of water, spices, garlic, and soy sauce. Bring everything to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 40 minutes.
6. Add buckwheat and 150 ml of water. Bring to a boil, cover the pan, reduce the heat and cook for 20 minutes.
