What to make with old potatoes besides mashed ones: a simple idea

You should not throw away old potatoes as you can use them as a basis for a variety of dishes. And it can be not only mashed potatoes, but, for example, pies.

The idea of making potato zrazy with cabbage was published on the Instagram page of Sofia Martyniuk (_sofia_martinuk).

Old potatoes.

Ingredients for potato zrazy:

  • potatoes - 8-9 pcs.
  • eggs - 1 pc
  • flour - 150-180 g
  • a pinch of salt, black pepper

Ingredients for the filling:

  • young cabbage - 200 g
  • sauerkraut - 500 g
  • water - to cover the cabbage
  • tomato paste - 2 tbsp
  • greens - optional
  • salt, pepper - to taste
  • oil for frying
Make potato dough.

Method of preparation:

1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender.

2. Mash and let cool for 15 minutes.

3. Add egg, black pepper, and flour. Knead the dough. It should stick to your hands.

Fresh cabbage.

4. Prepare the filling: fry sauerkraut in vegetable oil for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Add young cabbage and fry for another 10-15 minutes.

6. Add water and tomato paste.

Sauerkraut.

7. Simmer under the lid until tender.

8. Add spices and herbs and cool.

9. Divide the dough into circles, roll in flour, and flatten with your hands.

10. Add the filling and form pies.

Ready-made dish.

11. Fry in vegetable oil.

12. When one side is slightly browned, cover with a lid.

13. Then turn over and fry without a lid.
