What to make from blackberries for winter: share a recipe for flavorful jam and compote
Bilberry - a very tasty and useful berry, which, according to experts, can prevent the development of many diseases. It is best eaten raw, cook jam, make fillings for dumplings, cakes and pies.
It is worth noting that in Ukraine, the blackberry season begins in late August and lasts until early October.
FoodOboz editorial staff has chosen for you two recipes for winter preparations from blackberries, which are simple and quick to prepare, but will be very tasty.
Blackberry jam with orange zest according to the recipe by Eugene Klopotenko
Ingredients:
- blackberries - 1 kg
- sugar - 500 g
- zest of 1 orange
Method of preparation:
1. Grind the blackberries with the sugar, then pass the mixture through a sieve into a thick-bottomed saucepan.
2. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for another 10 minutes.
3. Then add the orange zest and simmer for another 10 minutes.
4. Spoon the hot jam into sterile jars and seal with lids.
Blackberry and raspberry compote, the recipe for which was published on the YouTube channel "My Podvir'ya".
Add citric acid to compotes for berry brightness
Ingredients:
- blackberries - in each 3 l jar 100 g
- raspberries - in each 3 l jar 100 g
- citric acid - into each 3 liter jar 1/3 tsp.
Syrup:
- sugar - 200 g
- water - 2.5 liters
Method of preparation:
1. Wash berries, pour into sterile jars and put a pinch of citric acid in each jar.
2. Make syrup: bring water to a boil, pour in sugar, boil syrup.
3. Pour the syrup over the berries. Be sure to insert a metal spoon into the jar and pour the hot syrup over it, so that the jar does not burst.
4. Preserve the compotes and let them cool completely, then transfer them to a cool place.
