What to do with the dough if the power is suddenly turned off: life hacks
A power outage can happen at any time, even when you've just started working with dough. However, there is no need to get upset and throw away the product. You just need to know how to work with it properly in such conditions and what to do.
On her Instagram page, food blogger Mila Anpilogova (mila_anpilogova) shared her life hacks for working with dough in conditions when the power was suddenly turned off.
At the kneading stage
- If the wheat dough was kneaded in a food processor, transfer the dough to a table and continue kneading by hand.
- If you were kneading rye dough, continue with a spoon or your hands.
During the fermentation phase
- If the light was turned off at the beginning of fermentation, leave the dough at room temperature or refrigerate. Wait until the fermentation is complete.
- If the lights are turned off at the end of fermentation, form the dough into shapes and leave it to proof: at room temperature, in the refrigerator, or on the balcony.
During the baking stage
- Put the workpiece in the freezer. Of course, the product will no longer look good after that. But at least you can save the dough from fermentation.
