What to add to varenyky dough to make them brown: one simple ingredient
Varenyky can become a spectacular dessert if you make them chocolate. Cottage cheese and frozen cherries are perfect for the filling. One simple ingredient will add a characteristic brown color.
The idea of making brown varenyky was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Victoria (vika_tolokova23). Add regular cocoa to flour.
Ingredients for the dough:
- 250 g flour
- 25 g of cocoa
- 2 tbsp of oil
- 180 ml of hot milk (or water)
Ingredients for the filling:
- 200 g of cottage cheese
- egg yolk
- sugar to taste
- cherries
Method of preparation:
1. Add sifted cocoa to sifted flour.
2. Stir to combine.
3. Add oil and hot milk.
4. Knead the soft dough, cover and leave for 30 minutes.
5. For the filling, mix cottage cheese with egg yolk and sugar.
6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out circles.
7. Put cheese and cherry on top of each one.
8. Form varenyky.
9. Cook in boiling water. After the products come up, wait 2 minutes and remove.
10. Serve with butter.
