What to add to tomato salad for a bright flavor: just one ingredient
Juicy tomatoes go very well in salads with salty cheese and onions. But you can diversify this dish even more by adding pita bread, pre-frying it in a pan. It will give the salad a bright, original flavor and a pleasant crunch.
Food blogger Oksana (oksana_kretsul) shared a recipe for a salad with tomatoes and pita bread on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- tomatoes
- Armenian pita bread (lavash)
- red onion
- olive oil
- unrefined sunflower oil
- salt
- feta cheese
- apple/wine vinegar
Method of preparation:
1. Wash the tomatoes and cut them randomly.
2. Cut/tear the pita bread into small pieces and fry in a pan. When dry, sprinkle with olive oil and salt and fry until grey.
3. Cut the onion into half rings and marinate in apple cider vinegar. Rinse under running water after 5-10 minutes and dry with a paper towel.
4. Salt the tomatoes, add the onion, feta cheese, ready-made pita bread and mix everything.
