What to add to the liver so that it does not become bitter: sharing tips and a recipe
One of the healthiest and easiest foods to prepare is liver. It can be used to make delicious pates, pie fillings, chops, cutlets, and added to salads. It can also be fried, boiled, and served as a gravy for many dishes.
But it's worth noting that liver is often bitter in dishes, so before cooking it should be poured with milk and left for 30-50 minutes.
Cook Yuliia Symonchuk (cook_julija_simonchuk ) shared on Instagram a recipe for delicious Berlin-style liver with apples and onions, which gives the dish an incredible spicy-sour taste and a pleasant aroma without bitterness.
Ingredients:
- chicken liver – 400 g
- apples – 2 pcs
- onions – 2 pcs
- flour – 2-3 tbsp
- smoked paprika – 1 tsp
- oil for frying
- salt, pepper – to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the apples into rings, remove the center, and fry. Put them on a plate.
2. In the same skillet, in the same oil, fry the onion rings over moderate heat.
3. Peel the liver from the films and fat, breaded in flour, and fry over low heat, add salt, pepper, and paprika. Next, add the apples and onions, mix gently, but make sure not to damage the apple rings.
4. Warm the dish on the fire for another 2-3 minutes and serve.
