What to add to lingonberry jam to make it not sour: just one ingredient
Many people do not like classic lingonberry jam because of the pronounced sourness of the berries. You can fix this by adding apear to the dessert. It balances the flavor well, makes the jam moderately sweet and also very flavorful.
Food blogger Oksana Kretsul (oksana_kretsul) shared a recipe for lingonberry and pear jam on her Instagram page .
Ingredients:
- sweet pear - 2 kg
- lingonberries - 2 kg
- sugar - 2.5-3 kg
- water - 350-500 ml
Method of preparation:
1. First, prepare the fruits and berries: wash the pears and cut them into small pieces, wash and dry the lingonberries.
2. After that, mix part of the sugar with water, put it on the fire and boil the syrup. The rest of the sugar will need to be added while the syrup is cooking to dissolve.
3. Pour the pears into the finished syrup and bring everything to a boil (it takes about 10 minutes) and cook for 4-5 minutes. Remove the resulting mass from the heat and let it brew for 2 hours.
4. When the pears are infused, put them back on the fire, bring to a boil and add the lingonberries. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Cover and let it brew.
5. After that, put the future jam on the fire for the last time, cook for 20-30 minutes. Leave to infuse until it thickens in a cool place.
6. Meanwhile, sterilize the jars with lids.
7. Bring the jam to a boil before pouring it into jars. Seal the jars filled with jam, turn them upside down and leave them to cool completely.
