Polenta is a traditional Italian dish based on corn grits. It can be cooked with milk, water, cream, and sour cream. But it is still best to make this dish with water.

Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko shared his recipe and tips for cooking this delicious dish on his YouTube channel (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).

The chef noted that the main thing in the cooking process is not to stop stirring the porridge throughout the entire time, because if you are distracted for a minute, the porridge can quickly burn.

How to cook polenta at home

Ingredients:

  • water - 600 ml
  • corn grits - 300 g
  • sun-dried tomatoes - 8 pcs.
  • hard cheese - 185 g
  • garlic - 1 clove.
  • basil - 1 sprig
  • salt, pepper - to taste

Method of preparation:

1. Pour water into a saucepan, add corn grits and garlic, put on fire, and cook for about 5-7 minutes. Be sure to stir the porridge so that it does not burn.

2. Then remove the garlic from the porridge.

3. Chop the tomatoes, grate the cheese, add to the porridge, stir, and season with salt and pepper.

4. Grease a baking dish with oil, put the finished dough in it, and put it in the oven for 30 minutes at 180 C.

The dish will be delicious both hot and cold with basil.

Ready-made polenta is best eaten cold

"Polenta can be cut into convenient small pieces and eaten with some kind of sauce," Klopotenko said.
