What is guacamole and how to make it correctly
Guacamole is a popular thick sauce that came to us from Mexican cuisine. Traditionally, it is made with avocado and lime juice. The main advantage of the appetizer is that it requires few ingredients, and in just 10 minutes, guacamole can be served to the table.

There is a legend that the main ingredient of guacamole, avocado, was first tasted by a Mayan princess. Back then, the fruit was considered inedible, so the girl was rewarded for her courage with long youth, strength, and beautiful children.
Rumor has it that an approximate variation of modern guacamole appeared among the Mexican Aztec people in the 12th century. According to legend, the Aztecs were offered the recipe for the sauce by the god of arts. However the exact proportions and ingredients are still unknown. So, for centuries, Mexicans have been modifying and improving the guacamole recipe.
Classic guacamole
Ingredients:
- Avocado
- Lime juice
- Onion
- Tomatoes
- Cilantro
- Jalapenos
- Garlic
- Salt.
Method of preparation:
- Peel and core the avocado. Mash with a fork.
- Chop tomatoes, garlic, and onions.
- Mix the avocado pulp and vegetables. Pour in freshly squeezed lime juice.
- Add spices.
Tricks for choosing vegetables
Avocado: should be ripe and firm at the same time.
Tomatoes: choose the least juicy ones so that the sauce is not watery.
Onions: traditionally, yellow onions are used for the sauce.
