What food to make if there is no electricity for 10-15 days: a list of products
Power outages continue throughout Ukraine. It is mostly 3-4 hours a day. But we don't know what's coming next. Therefore, it is worth thinking about what foods you can stock up on for the period if there is no electricity for 10-15 days.
Nutritionist Natalia Krasnopolska (natalia_nutritionist) shared her thoughts on what food supplies are best for a long period of power outages on Instagram. The food will be nutritious and healthy enough.
How to prepare food for a long period of power outage:
1. If you have a balcony, it can replace a refrigerator; if you don't, you need food that doesn't spoil quickly and can be stored without a refrigerator.
2. If you don't have a gas stove, then there is no point in making large stocks of cereals for this case. But it does make sense to buy a small stove that can be connected to a gas can.
3. Buy a thermos so that you can make tea or coffee once a day for several meals. If you have a coffee machine and coffee beans at home, grind or buy pre-ground coffee that you can then brew.
4. Most of the products in the store should be instant. Yes, this is contrary to the advice of healthy eating, but if there is no power, you can eat steamed oatmeal or even "mivina".
5. Buckwheat can be soaked in cold water overnight. Fine corn grits steam well.
6. Choose fish in its own juice, pates, herring, caviar. Vegetable beans and chickpeas.
7. Seeds, nuts.
8. Be sure to stock up on water - at least 3 liters per day per family member. At least for 5 days. Imagine what the excitement can be like.
9. Canned vegetables, but it's important to look at the composition. It is good to always have fermented cabbage.
10. Bread. Buy breads and biscuits.
11. Sweets. Chocolate more than 80%, dried fruits, fruit chips (without added sugar) and other healthy treats.
12. For children, depending on age - instant cereals, vegetable and fruit purees.
