What else can be added to the strudel filling besides apples: the taste will pleasantly surprise you
The classic strudel is made with apples. After baking, the fruit has a very pleasant caramel flavor and a slight sourness. But right now, the strawberry season has begun. Be sure to add this berry as well – it will be delicious.
The idea of making homemade lazy strudel was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Olga Kovach (kovaaach_). The dough offered by the cook is very simple.
Ingredients for the dough:
- flour – 200 g
- water – 85 g
- vegetable oil – 25 g
- a pinch of salt and sugar
Ingredients for the filling:
- large apples – 4 pcs.
- frozen strawberries – 150 g (you can take fresh ones)
- sugar – 2 tbsp
- cinnamon – 1 tbsp
- ground breadcrumbs – 1 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Sift the flour into a bowl and add warm water and vegetable oil.
2. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
3. The dough should be soft and elastic.
4. Cover the bowl with cling film and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
5. For the filling, peel and dice the apples.
6. Combine the fruit in a bowl, add sugar and cinnamon, and mix.
7. Roll out the dough with minimal flour. You can also pull it with your hands.
8. Put the flavored filling on the dough and sprinkle with ground breadcrumbs.
9. Roll up and place in a baking dish covered with parchment and lightly oiled.
10. You can grease the top with an egg, but it is not necessary.
11. Bake in a preheated 180-degree oven for 30 minutes.
12. Take out the strudel, and cover with a towel.
13. Allow to cool slightly.
14. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and add ice cream if desired.
