What are meat jerkies and how to make them: a great substitute for store-bought snacks

Meat jerkies is a natural meat snack that everyone loves. They contain only meat and spices – no additives or chemicals. These meat chips are a great substitute for the usual store-bought chips and crackers.

Food blogger Maria Mikhalchenko shared a recipe for meat snacks, also called jerkies, on her YouTube channel Smakolik.ua.

Recipe for meat jerkies

Ingredients for 2 kg of meat:

  • pepper – 1 tsp.
  • red pepper – 1 tsp.
  • dried garlic – 1 tsp.
  • basil – 0.5 tsp.
  • coriander – 1 tbsp
  • dried dill – 1 tsp.
  • paprika – 0.5 tsp.
  • soy sauce – 0.5 tsp.
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tbsp (can be omitted)
  • salt – 1 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. First you need to prepare the meat, namely, it is necessary to cut off all protruding parts. After that, put the pieces of meat on a tray covered with foil and leave in the freezer for 12 hours.

2. After that, you need to get the meat and, before it has time to completely thaw, cut it into very thin pieces.

3. Put the meat in a container and add all the necessary spices. Mix by hand. Close the container with a lid and leave in the refrigerator for 1 day.

4. Put the marinated meat on the dryer tray. Dry for about 10 hours. Ready-made jerkies should be flexible.
