Very crispy: Hungarian pickled cucumbers with dry mustard and garlic
If you want to make delicious, crispy pickled cucumbers, cooks advise adding dry mustard, spices, garlic, and currant leaves.
The cook shared a recipe for delicious pickled cucumbers with dry mustard, allspice, and cloves on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- 5 kg of small cucumbers, ideally gherkins
- garlic, bay leaf, black and allspice, cloves, dry mustard seeds
For the marinade:
- 3.5 liters of water
- 0.5 liters of vinegar 9%
- 600 g of sugar
- 100 g of salt
Method of preparation:
1. Wash the cucumbers and soak in cool water for 2-3 hours.
2. Put 1 clove of garlic, 1 bay leaf, 1 clove (optional), a few peas of black and allspice, and 1 tsp of mustard seeds into clean 0.5-1 liter jars.
3. Fill the jars tightly with cucumbers. Add salt, sugar, vinegar to the water and bring to a boil. Pour the hot marinade into the jars and close the lids.
4. Place a cotton napkin or towel on the bottom of a wide saucepan. Set the jars, pour water into the pan. Put on the fire and bring the water in the pot with the jars to a boil. Sterilize the cucumbers for 5-7 minutes.
5. After that, remove the jars, seal them tightly, turn them upside down and wrap them in a warm blanket until they cool completely.
