Ultra-crispy chips in the oven: how to cook to make them tastier than the most expensive ones
Are you going to spend the evening watching your favorite TV series or a football match? Then, most likely, on the way home, you will visit a store where your hand will reach for the shelf with chips and other snacks. These things are indeed very tasty, but they are not very healthy. So you should think about what you can replace them with.
For example, chef Hector Jimenez-Bravo suggested making ultra-crispy chips at home, without using deep fat. He shared how to do it on Instagram.
Ingredients
- Potatoes - 450 gr
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Black pepper - to taste
- Smoked paprika - 1 tbsp
- Olive oil - 1 tbsp
- Flour - 1 tsp
- Dry garlic
- Fragrant herbs
- Chili pepper
Method of preparation
1. Peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes and boil in salted water. Then mash the potatoes.
2. Add spices, salt, olive oil and mix well.
3. Preheat the oven to 160°. Cover a baking sheet with parchment and spread 1 tablespoon of mashed potatoes in portions. Cover the top with another sheet of parchment and smooth with a glass or rolling pin.
4. Bake for 20-30 minutes, until the edges are browned and the parchment comes away from the surface.
5. The finished chips may puff up a bit in the middle and be a bit soft, but when they cool down, they will become crispy.
