Ukrainian makivnyky with cherries: a quick and easy recipe
Stop for a moment and close your eyes. Imagine that you are looking at a hot, flavorful makivnyky. You made it yourself, and that makes it even more delicious. Now, your brain may be resisting, like: "oh, it's complicated, there are a lot of ingredients, and you have to make the dough." Let go of these thoughts, kitties. There are no obstacles between you and the divine makivnyky.
There is only this simple recipe that will make it happen. You'll take the dough already prepared, so it will shorten the way to pleasure.
You will need 1 kg of puff pastry. You will also need 100 g of frozen cherries, 100 g of poppy seeds, 50 g of honey, 200 g of sugar, and 200 ml of water.
Defrost the cherries. Cover the poppy seeds with water and boil for 20-30 minutes, then strain through a sieve.
Divide the thawed dough and cut 1 layer into 3 strips. Roll it out a little with a rolling pin. Brush the strips with honey and wrap them in snails. Cover a baking sheet with parchment and place spoons and forks as shown in the photo to form "compartments" for the snails.
Place the dough on the baking sheet. Cover with parchment and press down with another baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees.
Boil the syrup separately: mix sugar with water, bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Put the finished poppy seeds on a plate, add poppy seeds and cherries to the syrup. Pour this syrup over the pancakes.
It's done. You are as incredible as your makivnyky. Serve.
