Delicious and crispy waffles have become increasingly popular lately. Usually, people are used to preparing them as a sweet breakfast or snack. But few people realize that they can be eaten as a main meal – it's all about the filling. Even children will love these waffles.
In an exclusive commentary for OBOZREVATEL, Victoria Stelmakh, founder of the largest Ukrainian-language Facebook group on complementary foods and baby food expert, shared her best recipes for waffles with fillings.
According to the expert, the base of all types of waffles is almost the same.
Ingredients:
- eggs - 1 pc.
- sour cream\yogurt\kefir\milk\cream\baked milk - 200-250 ml
- vegetable oil - 1.5 tbsp.
- flour - there is no clear consistency (it is best to mix different types)
- baking powder/soda - 1-2 pinches
Waffles with potatoes and mushrooms
Ingredients:
- dough base
- onion - 1\2 pcs.
- mushrooms - 3-5 pcs.
- potatoes - 1-2 pcs.
- grated cheese - 100 g
- dill \ spinach \ green onions
Method of preparation:
1. Boil the potatoes.
2. Fry the mushrooms in butter.
3. Beat the finished potatoes with the dough base using a blender.
4. Add the remaining ingredients and beat.
Nut waffles with flax seeds
Ingredients:
- dough base
- flax seeds - 1 tsp.
- nut paste - 1 tbsp. grated nuts - 2 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Mix all the necessary ingredients with the dough base.
These waffles are also great for combining dried fruits. They should be soaked in hot and cold water beforehand, then chopped and added to the dough.
Chocolate waffles with nutella flavor
Ingredients:
- dough base
- carob 2-3 tsp.
- natural nut paste - 2 tbsp. \ grated nuts - 3-4 tbsp.
- coconut paste - 1\2 tbsp.\coconut flakes - 1 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Mix all the ingredients except the carob.
2. Divide the dough into two parts, and add a carob to one of them.
3. Put the dough into the waffle iron in turn: first the light dough, then the chocolate dough.
Add orange zest to spice it up.
Vegetable and meat waffles
Ingredients:
- dough base
- vegetable puree - 1-2 tbsp
- mashed meat - 1-2 tbsp.
- hard grated cheese - 100 g
- spices.
Method of preparation:
1. Mix all the necessary ingredients until smooth.
Raspberry winter waffles
Ingredients:
- eggs - 1 pc.
- white yogurt - 200 ml
- coconut flour - 1 tbsp.
- whole wheat flour - 1.5 tbsp
- wheat flour - 1.5 tbsp
- coconut oil - 1.5 tbsp
- coconut paste - 2 tsp.
- baking powder - a pinch
- raspberries
Method of preparation:
1. If you use frozen raspberries, then after defrosting, be sure to squeeze. If fresh – grind thoroughly.
2. Mix all the necessary ingredients.
