Tomatoes for the winter in the simplest marinade: how to quickly prepare canned food
To prepare delicious tomatoes for the winter, you don't need to invent a variety of marinades. It will be enough to combine the main preservatives: salt, sugar, and vinegar in the right portions. The tomatoes will be juicy and will not soften in the jar.
The idea of cooking delicious canned tomatoes in a simple marinade was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Olena with the nickname helena bas88. You can add a variety of fruit leaves if you wish.
Ingredients:
- tomatoes – 3 kg
Ingredients for the marinade for 3 liters of water:
- salt – 3 tbsp
- sugar – 7 tbsp
- vinegar – 200 ml
- peppercorns
- bay leaf
- dill umbrellas
- optional currant and horseradish leaves
- vegetable oil – 1 tbsp. per liter jar
Method of preparation:
1. Wash the tomatoes, and cut off the tail.
2. Cut in half without cutting to the end, put the onion slices.
3. Pour 5 peppercorns, 1 bay leaf, dill umbrellas into the jars, add tomatoes and onions, and pour in the oil.
4. For the marinade: pour 3 liters of water, salt, sugar, peppercorns, and bay leaf into a saucepan, bring to a boil, pour in vinegar, and boil again.
5. Pour into jars, cover with lids, sterilize for 10 minutes after boiling.
6. Screw on the lids, turn upside down, and cover with a blanket until cool.
