Tomato sauce for mashed potatoes, pasta, buckwheat and meatballs: cooks in 15 minutes

You can make your dishes more satisfying and tasty with a simple gravy that will suit mashed potatoes, pasta, buckwheat, rice, cutlets, and even stuffed cabbage. It can be prepared with or without meat, mushrooms, and can be based on ordinary tomato paste.

A recipe for a simple tomato sauce without meat was published on one of the cooking blogs (recepti_dariko) on Instagram.

Tomato sauce recipe with flour

Ingredients:

  • flour – 2 tbsp. 
  • odorless oil – 2-3 tbsp. 
  • tomato paste – 2 tbsp.
  • cream 10% – 200 ml
  • water – 400 ml
  • salt
  • bay leaf, allspice
Gravy for mashed potatoes and cutlets

Method of preparation:

1. Lightly fry the flour until brown, stirring occasionally, then add the oil and fry until smooth.

2. Immediately add the tomato paste, and cook for several minutes, stirring constantly.

Meatless tomato sauce

3. Add cold cream in portions, stirring constantly.

4. When the mass becomes homogeneous, pour cold water in portions. Add salt, pepper, and bay leaves. Bring to a boil and cook for a few more minutes.
