This homemade ketchup is a great alternative to all the usual sauces. Its advantage is that it goes well with almost all dishes, and is made from just two main ingredients: tomatoes and apples.
Food blogger Tetiana Riabokin (mama_na_kykhne) shared a recipe for tomato and apple ketchup on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- tomatoes - 3 kg
- apples - 0.5 kg
- onion - 250 g
- salt - 1.5 tbsp
- sugar - 1.5 cups.
- black pepper - 0.5 tsp.
- red pepper - 0.5 tsp.
- vinegar - 50 ml
Method of preparation:
1. Cut tomatoes, onions, and apples into cubes. Put everything in a saucepan, put on fire, bring to a boil and cook for 50 minutes. Do not cover with a lid.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the resulting mass. Blend with a blender until smooth.
3. The resulting mass must be additionally passed through a sieve.
4. Then put on fire and cook for 20 minutes.
5. Pour the ketchup into sterile jars and seal.
