Herring is one of the most affordable, tasty and healthy foods. Experts advise eating it very often as it contains many essential trace elements and healthy fats. It can also be used to make salads, pates, spreads, forshmak, and sandwiches.
"Herring contains a lot of fat, but it is healthy fatty acids, mainly omega-3. With a daily requirement of 1 to 1.5 g per day, 100 g of herring contains 2.4 g. Omega-3 fatty acids are necessary for a good diet because they are not produced in the body, and they are important for health," said nutritionist Svitlana Fus.
Ukrainian chef and brand chef of several Odesa restaurants Serhiy Pokanevych shared a recipe for a delicious herring spread on his YouTube channel.
Ingredients:
- herring - 1 pc.
- carrots - 2 pcs.
- processed cheese - 90 g
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the herring and remove all the bones. Cut the fillet into pieces.
2. Boil the carrots, peel them, and cut them into two pieces.
3. Pass all the ingredients through a meat grinder.
4. Mix everything and transfer to a suitable container and store for up to 12 hours in the refrigerator.
