"Marinara" is an Italian sauce based on tomatoes, garlic, onions, and aromatic herbs and spices. It perfectly complements pasta, and meat dishes, especially meatballs and meatballs, and is also convenient to add to pizza. And, as you can imagine, the sauce is very affordable and budget-friendly.

Ingredients:

  • tomatoes without skin and seeds – 3 kg
  • onion – 900 g
  • garlic – 6 large cloves
  • basil – 2 large bunches
  • cumin – 1 large bunch
  • tomato paste – 350-450 g
  • salt
  • vegetable oil

Method of preparation:

1. Peel the tomatoes first. To do this, make cuts with a cross on the skin, put them in hot water for 1 minute, then immediately in cold water – leave them there for 5 minutes. At the end, lightly peel off the skin.

2. Blend the peeled tomatoes in a blender, then rub them through a sieve to get rid of the seeds.

3. Next, chop the onion and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown.

4. When the onion is golden brown, add the chopped garlic.

5. When the garlic begins to give off its flavor, add the tomato juice immediately.

6. Add tomato paste and salt. Stir and cook for 15 minutes. If you want the sauce to be thick, add a little more tomato paste and cook longer.

7. At the end, add chopped herbs and cook for another 30 minutes over low heat.
