Pies are a versatile dish that is suitable for breakfast, lunch, and even dinner, if they are, for example, vegetable or fish. It is worth noting that they are all very simple and easy to prepare, the important thing is to make a good dough and choose a delicious filling.
English chef, restaurateur, and TV presenter Jamie Oliver shared on his YouTube channel recipes for delicious pies with different fillings: vegetables and fish, which you can easily make.
1. Fish pie with celery and chili peppers
Ingredients:
- salmon fillet - 300 g
- shrimp - 125 g
- potatoes - 1 kg
- carrots - 1 pc.
- celery - 2 sticks
- spinach - 300 g
- chili pepper - 1/2 pc.
- lemon - 1 pc.
- Cheddar cheese - 150 g
- olive oil - 2-3 tbsp
- parsley - 1 bunch
Method of preparation:
- Wash and peel the potatoes, cut them into cubes, throw them into boiling water, and cook for 12 minutes to make them semi-raw.
- Wash and peel the carrots, and grate them on a coarse grater along with celery, lemon zest, and pepper.
- Grate the cheese and add it to the vegetables.
- Put the vegetables in the first layer in a baking dish greased with olive oil, top with the chopped fish and shrimp, sprinkle with lemon juice, and season with spices.
- Wash the spinach and parsley, chop it, and put it on top of the fish and shrimp.
- Mash the potatoes well until smooth, put them on top, and put them in the oven for 40 minutes at 170 C.
You can serve the pie with ketchup, as well as with stewed vegetables and salad, it will be very tasty.
2. Light pie with spinach and bacon
Ingredients:
- ready-made puff pastry - 1 pc.
- smoked bacon - 6-10 strips
- eggs - 6 pcs.
- milk - 200 ml
- dry mustard - 1 tsp.
- green onions - 1 bunch
- lemon - 1 pc.
- leeks - 3 pcs.
- olive oil - 1-2 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
- Put the dough into a baking dish greased with olive oil.
- Pour boiling water over the spinach to soften it and chop it finely.
- Cut the leeks into rings and chop the green onions.
- Beat the eggs with salt, add two types of onions, mustard, lemon zest, and 1 tsp of lemon juice, milk, salt, pepper and mix everything.
- Put the bacon on the dough, pour over the onion-egg mixture, and put in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 C.
This pie tastes better when it's cold, it will be delicious with soup.
