Despite its unusual name, the Tatatuta salad is very simple and quick to prepare, as it is based on two main ingredients: beets and pickled cucumbers. The salad is prepared without mayonnaise and is quite healthy.

Rumor has it that Tatatuta is an ancient Ukrainian salad, and it is mostly typical for Zhytomyr region.

Ingredients:

  • beets
  • pickled cucumbers
  • onion
  • salt, pepper
  • vegetable oil

Method of preparation:

1. Cut the onion in half rings. Put on the bottom of the plate.

2. Bake or boil the beets in advance. Cut into cubes and put on top of the onion.

3. Dice the pickled cucumbers and add to the other ingredients.

4. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with vegetable oil.
