Tastier than zrazy, dumplings and pies: potato placek with cheese and spicy sauce
Potatoes can be used to make not only mashed potatoes, roasts, and salads, but also delicious casseroles, zrazy, and pies. Potatoes can also be deliciously baked with bacon, vegetables, stewed, and fried with mushrooms.
Cook Victoria shared a recipe for potato placek made with mashed potatoes and cheese on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- potatoes - 1.1 kg
- cottage cheese - 250 g
- egg - 1 pc.
- starch
- spices: salt, pepper, Provencal herbs - to taste
- semolina - for rolling
- oil - for frying
Sauce:
- sour cream 18% - 4 tbsp. l.
- mayonnaise - 2 tbsp
- pickled cucumber
- ketchup - 1 tbsp
- spices: salt, pepper, dry garlic - to taste
- cucumber brine
Method of preparation:
1. Boil the potatoes in their skins. You should get 1 kg of boiled, peeled potatoes.
2. Pass the potatoes and cheese through a meat grinder with a fine strainer, mix until smooth. Divide the mixture into 4 parts. Take out 1 part and add starch to that place. Add the egg, spices and mix until smooth. Form the placeks, roll in semolina and fry in heated vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown.
3. For the sauce: finely chop the cucumber, add sour cream, mayonnaise, ketchup, spices, mix until smooth. If desired, bring the sauce to the desired consistency with cucumber brine.
Pour the sauce over the warm potato placek.
