Tastier than pizza: puffy kefir pie with onions
Homemade pies can be a great alternative to bread, rolls, pizza, and lasagna. You can make them with any filling, both sweet like cottage cheese or berries, and savory, with cabbage, fish, meat, cottage cheese, hard cheese, and herbs.
A chef shared a recipe for a very lush and tasty pie with fried onions on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- 350g of onions
- 200 ml of kefir (choose the fat content to taste)
- 2 eggs
- 50 ml of vegetable oil
- 1 tsp of sugar
- 0.5 tsp of salt
- 1 tbsp of dry onion (optional)
- 185 g of flour
- 0.5 tsp of baking powder
- 0.5 tsp of baking soda
- 25 g of butter
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the onion into half rings and fry in butter over medium heat for 10 minutes until golden brown.
2. In a bowl, combine kefir, eggs, oil, salt and sugar. Mix and add flour, baking powder and baking soda. Mix and add the dried onion in the middle of the process.
3. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
4. Cover the bottom of the baking dish with parchment and grease the edges of the dish with butter. First, pour half the dough into the mold and spread it out. Layer the fried onions over the entire surface.
Spread the second part of the dough on top and bake for 30-35 minutes.
