Sweet dumplings with strawberries: how to make a fluffy and elastic dough
You don't need yeast to make fluffy dumplings. It will be much more convenient and effective to use kefir - the dough will definitely turn out well. And you can use seasonal strawberries for the filling.
The idea of making puffy dumplings with strawberries from kefir dough was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Natalia Zhuk (nataliia zhuk cooking). The products should be steamed.
Ingredients for the dough:
- kefir at room temperature - 250 g
- a pinch of salt
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- flour - 300 g + 30 g for powdering during cooking
Ingredients for the filling:
- strawberries - 200 g
- sugar - 2 tbsp
- starch - 1 tbsp
- butter for lubrication
- honey or sugar
Method of preparation:
1. Pour 250 g of kefir into a bowl.
2. Add a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of baking soda, mix well.
3. Add about 300 g of flour.
4.Knead the dough.
5. Cover and leave to rest for 5-10 minutes.
6. Cut the strawberries.
7. Mix sugar and cornstarch separately.
8. Divide the dough into two parts and roll out, but not too thinly so that the juice does not leak out.
9. Squeeze out the circles, put the filling, sprinkle with sugar and starch and pinch the edges well.
10. Pour 1/3 of the water into the pot.
11. Put in the wet cheesecloth and tie it well.
12. Bring to a boil and add the dumplings, cover and cook for 6 minutes.
13. Brush the finished dumplings with butter.
14. Drizzle with honey or sprinkle with sugar.
