Sweet dumplings with cottage cheese: recipe for the most successful dough on water
In order for the dumplings to be puffy, soft and not fall apart during cooking, you need to prepare a successful dough - on ordinary or mineral water, kefir, simple sourdough. At the same time, they can be with different savory fillings - liver, potatoes, mushrooms or cabbage, as well as sweet - cherries, blueberries or cottage cheese.
Food blogger Olena Sagun(olena_sagun) on her Instagram page shared a recipe for dumplings with cottage cheese, based on the simplest water-based dough.
Ingredients:
Dough:
- flour - 250 g
- water - 150 ml
- butter - 50 g
- salt
Filling:
- cottage cheese - 180-200 g
- egg yolk - 1 pc
- sugar - 2 tbsp.
- vanilla sugar - 1 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. To prepare the dough, pour water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then immediately remove from the stove and dissolve butter in the water.
2 Mix the dry ingredients separately. Pour water into them, stirring constantly. At first, lumps will begin to form, they should be stirred with a spoon, then continue to knead the dough by hand. It should be elastic and not stick to your hands. After that you need to put it in a bowl, cover it with food film and leave it for 30 minutes.
3. To prepare the filling, grind the cottage cheese and mix it with the rest of the ingredients.
4. Roll out the ready dough and cut out circles. Wrap the filling on each of them and form dumplings.
5. Boil the dumplings in salted water.
