Sweet and savory rolls without a hitch: you need phyllo dough
Rolls are convenient because you can take them with you for a snack to school or work, and they are very satisfying. They are prepared as quickly as possible because they are based on phyllo dough, which can be found in any store. The filling is suitable for both salty and sweet.
The idea of making rolls with salty and sweet fillings without rolling out the dough was shared by food blogger Anastasiia with the nickname grigorieva_ak on Instagram. The dish takes a maximum of half an hour to prepare.
Ingredients:
- filo dough
- butter – 140 g
Ingredients for the salty filling:
- cheese – 250 g
- chopped herbs (dill and parsley)
Ingredients for the sweet filling:
- cottage cheese – 200 g
- cherry confit: 200 g frozen pitted cherries, 4 tsp sugar, 2 tsp starch
For the ruddy crust:
- egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk
- sesame seeds, flax
Method of preparation:
1. For the cherry confit, combine the cherries, sugar, and starch in a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
2. Put over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. Bring the mass to a boil and thicken.
4. Combine the cheese with the greens (you can also add the liquid in which the cheese was cooked for more juiciness).
5. Combine the cottage cheese with the cherry confit.
6. Brush the dough with melted butter.
7. Put the filling, roll it up, and fold it in half. Continue until you run out of filling.
8. Put the rolls in a parchment-lined dish, brush with egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds and flax.
9. Put in the oven at 200 degrees to bake until browned for 20-30 minutes.
