Super fluffy apple buns: an easy step-by-step recipe

Ingredients for the dough
- Flour - 250 gr
- Milk - 125 ml
- Dry yeast - 7 g
- Egg - 1 pc
- Salt - a pinch
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp.
Ingredients for the filling
- Apples - 1-2 pcs
- Lemon juice
- Brown sugar
- Maple syrup
- Powdered sugar
Method of preparation
1.In a small bowl, mix the dry yeast with 1-2 tablespoons of warm milk and a little sugar. Leave it for 5-10 minutes until the yeast is activated and bubbles.
2. In a large bowl, mix the flour with the remaining sugar and a pinch of salt. Add the milk, beaten egg, vanilla extract and activated yeast mixture. Mix well.
3. Add the softened butter in small pieces to the dough and knead until everything is evenly distributed and the dough is smooth.
4. Cover the dough and leave it in a warm place for 1 hour, until it has doubled in size.
5. Wash the apples and slice them thinly. Dip the apple slices in lemon juice to prevent them from turning black.
6. Divide the risen dough into 9-10 balls of equal size. Roll out each ball into an oval shape and make cuts on both sides towards the center, but not all the way through.
7. Lightly roll the top halves of the ovals to create a braided effect. Roll up the bottom 2 parts of the dough.
8. Arrange the apple slices on the top half of the ovals and gently fold the dough over them to create a rose shape. Wrap the lower ends of the dough around the rose.
9. Cover with a towel and leave for 30-45 minutes. The buns should double in size.
10. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Brush the buns with the yolk-milk mixture and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake the buns with apples in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
11. Remove from the oven and let cool. Before serving, brush the apple slices with maple syrup and sprinkle with powdered sugar on the sides.
