Mulled wine is a truly winter drink, with its spicy, citrusy taste and aroma giving a special sense of celebration and comfort. There are many recipes for this drink, including not only alcoholic ones, but they are not always successful.

Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko has shared 2 recipes on his website that will help you make alcoholic and non-alcoholic mulled wine.

1. Mulled wine with berries and pears

Berry mulled wine

Ingredients:

  • 3 pears (hard varieties)
  • 1-2 bottles of dry red wine
  • zest of a quarter of an orange
  • 4 stars of star anise
Mulled wine jug
  • 4 grains of cardamom
  • 2-3 clove buds
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 90-110 g of sugar
  • 100 g of blackberries

Method of preparation:

1. Peel the pears, do not cut them, they should be whole.

2. Pour wine into a saucepan, add pears, orange zest, sugar, and put on fire.

Wine for mulled wine

3. Add all the spices and cook the drink for about 20 minutes.

4. Then add the blackberries and remove the pears.

Do not spare spices for mulled wine

The delicious drink can be served immediately.

2. Non-alcoholic mulled wine with grape juice and bay leaf.

Non-alcoholic mulled wine

Ingredients:

  • Juice from red grapes - 1 liter
  • Orange - 1/2 pc.
  • Cinnamon - 2 sticks
  • Cloves - 5 pcs.
Cinnamon and star anise
  • Bay leaf - 2 pcs.
  • Thyme - 2 sprigs
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Wash and cut the orange into rings.

2. Pour the juice into a saucepan, add sugar, spices and orange.

3. Put on the fire and cook for about 10 minutes, do not bring to a boil.

Serve the finished drink immediately with an orange.
