Palianytsia is a dish that will be relevant at all times because it is prepared in a simple way and with ingredients that are on hand. It will be a great alternative to any other baked goods: bread, pies, rolls.

Food blogger Olena (elena_ermolenko__) shared a recipe for Ukrainian palianytsia, which does not require a long time to knead the dough, on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • flour - 500 g
  • hot water - 340 ml
  • fresh yeast - 30 g
  • salt - 9 g
  • sunflower or pumpkin seeds, any herbs
  • semolina
  • cabbage leaves - 3 pcs

Method of preparation:

1. Mix flour, salt and herbs in a bowl.

2. Dissolve the yeast in 2-3 tbsp of water. Pour into the flour.

3. At the same time, add the rest of the water to the flour and knead the dough with a spatula. It is sticky and light. Leave it for 1 hour.

4. Meanwhile, cut off the hard parts of the cabbage leaves and pour boiling water over them.

5. When the dough is ready, sprinkle the surface with flour and start stretching it out: make a rectangle, roll one side to the middle, and cover the other side completely. Repeat 6 times. After that, turn the future bread over to the other side and wrap all the sides to the center. Leave it like this for 20 minutes.

6. Put the mold in which the cake will be baked in a cold oven and turn it on to 250 degrees. When the oven heats up, take out the mold, put the leaves and then the dough on it, and sprinkle with semolina and seeds. Cover with a lid or foil.

7. Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake at 210 degrees for another 15 minutes. Let it cool down.
