Fragrant, spicy, and peppery – that's all you need to know about Mexican chili con carne. The dish can be served as a standalone or used as a sauce or side dish. It is prepared based on beans and meat. It turns out to be thick, rich, flavorful, and very satisfying.
Food blogger Juliia Mykulych (yuliia_mikulich) shared a recipe for Mexican chili con carne with beans and meat on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- meat – 750 g
- beans (canned or boiled) – 300 g
- onion – 200 g
- bell pepper – 200 g
- hot chili pepper
- water – 250-350 g
- tomato paste – 50 g
- soy sauce – 50 g
- salt, pepper
- oregano
- dried garlic
Method of preparation:
1. First, prepare the meat, namely cut it into cubes, strips, or grind through a meat grinder.
2. Fry the chopped meat over high heat, stirring constantly, for 3-6 minutes. Fry the meat until lightly golden and in parts, not all at once. This way the meat will fry faster. Transfer the meat to a saucepan.
3. Next come the vegetables: dice the onion and pepper. First, fry the onion until soft, then add the pepper. Fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes, then transfer to the meat.
5. Chop the hot pepper and add to the pan. At the same time add black pepper, oregano, and dry or minced garlic.
6. Mix water, tomato paste, and soy sauce separately. Add the resulting mass to the total.
7. Put the pot on the fire, bring it to a boil, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes.
8. Add the beans and cook for another 5 minutes.
