Shuba salad without mayonnaise and herring: an easy and delicious dish
Shuba is one of the simplest, most budget-friendly, yet tasty and satisfying salads with vegetables, namely beets. Another important ingredient in this dish is herring and sauce, but if you don't like herring and mayonnaise, you can easily replace them.
Cook Valentyna Sayenko shared a recipe for a delicious Shuba salad, which is made without herring and mayonnaise but tastes even better than the classic one, on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- lightly salted salmon - 200 g
- beetroot - 2 pcs.
- potatoes - 2 pcs.
- eggs - 3 pcs.
- pickled onions - 1 pc.
- aioli sauce ⠀
Marinated onions:
- onions - 0.5 pcs.
- sugar - 1 tbsp.
- salt - 0.5 tbsp.
- wine vinegar - 3 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Wash and bake vegetables.
2. Boil eggs.
3. Peel and dice onion, sprinkle with salt and sugar, pour vinegar, let stand for 5 minutes and cover with boiling water. Let it stand for 2 minutes, drain the water and pour cold water over it. This way, the onion will lose its spicy properties and remain slightly spicy, sweet and crispy.
6. Grate all the vegetables on a coarse grater, and eggs on a fine grater. Separate the whites and the yolks.
7. Layer the salad: potatoes, aioli, whites, onion, yolks, salmon.
Put the finished salad in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
