Should you drink water with lemon? If so, when is it best to do it – in the morning or in the evening? If not, why not? As it turns out, there is no definitive answer to this question.

"Pros"
The main argument for lemon water is the fact that it removes toxins from the body on an empty stomach. This improves skin color and liver function.
In addition, experts name several other factors among the advantages of water with lemon:
- Improves the functioning of the digestive system, liver and intestines.
- Cleanses arteries and blood vessels, which in turn reduces the risk of heart disease.
- Softens blood vessels and makes them more flexible, reducing blood pressure.
- Helps to stabilize blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
- Strengthens the immune system and helps with colds.
- Freshens the breath.
- Invigorates as well as coffee, increasing tone and efficiency.
- It is an effective aid for weight loss.
"Cons"
It should be noted that lemon should be consumed only if you have no health contraindications.
It is not recommended to drink water with lemon:
- People with gastritis, ulcers, and high acidity of gastric juice. Drinking sour lemon juice can cause abdominal pain.
- People with kidney disease. The fact is that vitamin B, which is a part of citric acid, has a strong diuretic effect.
- People who take sleeping pills. The medication slows down digestion, which is why lemon juice stays in the gastrointestinal tract longer, negatively affecting the mucous membrane.
- People with sensitive tooth enamel. Regular consumption of citric acid in one form or another makes the enamel extra thin. Therefore, dentists advise to rinse your mouth after drinking water with lemon.
- People with an allergic reaction to citrus fruits. We think we can do without comment here.
In the morning or in the evening?
This is where opinions differ. There is no definitive answer to this question. Some say that it is best to drink water with lemon before bed, as toxins need to be removed from the body at the end of the day. Others argue that you shouldn't irritate your stomach with acid at night and advise you to take the "magic drink" only in the morning.
There is only one thing that everyone agrees on: water with lemon should be drunk without fail. And only on an empty stomach. It is advisable to do this every day and for at least a month for a visible effect.
So if you're still wondering whether you should drink lemon water, we'd say: definitely yes. In the morning or in the evening – at your discretion. But only if you do not have the above contraindications.
