Shakshuka for breakfast: what you need to know when cooking a popular egg dish
Without exaggeration, scrambled eggs and all egg dishes are considered the most favorite and popular breakfast. One of them is shakshuka, a dish that came to us from the Middle East and is increasingly finding its way into the recipes of housewives. Shakshuka is traditionally made with poached eggs combined with tomato paste and spices.
The FoodOboz editorial team will tell you how to cook shakshuka and what you need to know. Published on the website Тhekitchn (to watch the video, scroll to the end).
The hardest part of shakshuka is probably cooking the eggs properly. If you add them to a boiling sauce, they can quickly overcook. Whereas the traditional recipe for the dish calls for soft-boiled eggs with stiff whites and runny yolks.
To achieve this effect, you need to follow these rules:
- Eggs in shakshuka are broken one by one. That's why you need to remove the frying pan from the heat before each cracking. This is so that each previous egg does not thicken before the previous one.
- After you have broken all the eggs in the sauce, you need to put a little sauce on the whites. This will help them cook faster and prevent the yolks from overcooking.
- To ensure that the eggs are cooked evenly, you need to steam them for a while and periodically turn the pan over.
