Dark chocolate and nuts are a great snack for schoolchildren

School snacking is a real dilemma for parents, as children are often capricious in their taste preferences and refuse to eat lunches from the school cafeteria.

FOODOBOZ shares ideas for healthy school snacks that your kids will definitely like:

Healthy foods for schoolchildren:

Meat is one of the most important products of the children's diet, a source of proteins necessary for a growing body. It can be sandwiches with sausage and ham.

Yogurt in a bottle or cheese slices, because dairy products are proteins and calcium necessary for the development of a child's body.

Seasonal vegetables and fruits are foods that contain a lot of vitamins and minerals. In the fall, these can be, for example, apples or pears.

Nuts and dried fruits are energy for the body and food for the brain.

Dark chocolate is not just a treat, but a real source of glucose and amino acids to improve memory.

Cereal bars – a boost of energy for the whole day is guaranteed.

Ukrainian chef Yevhen Klopotenko, who started the CultFood school nutrition project, shared a recipe for oatmeal bars, a great snack for schoolchildren on his culinary website.

Oatmeal bar for a snack

Ingredients:

Oatmeal - 100

Flour - 2 tbsp

Ground cinnamon - 1 tsp

Butter - 50 g

Sunflower oil - 50 ml

Honey - 80 g

Sugar - 1 tbsp

Raisins - 150 g

Almonds or walnuts - 100 g

Salt - a pinch

Method of preparation:

  1. Pour 100 g of the oatmeal mixture into a bowl. You can also use regular oatmeal.
  2. Add all the other ingredients to the bowl: whole wheat flour, 50 g of coconut oil or soft butter, salt, cinnamon, sunflower oil, honey, sugar, raisins, and almonds, pre-chopping them in any convenient way.
  3. Mix the mixture thoroughly so that the ingredients are evenly distributed in the total mass.
  4. Line a baking dish with parchment and transfer the mixture. Tamp down very firmly with a spoon or the bottom of a glass. Bake in the oven at 160 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
  5. Let the mass cool completely in the mold and put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour, preferably overnight, so that the contents stabilize. Cut the cooled layer into convenient pieces – in the form of a bar or squares.

This is the kind of snack you want:

  • tasty
  • nutritious
  • easy to transport
  • can be stored for a long time
  • your children will definitely like it
