Sauerkraut apples with honey and barberries for winter: how to soak them
In Ukraine, quite often housewives in the summer prepare sour apples in order to serve a tasty appetizer in winter. They are not only delicious, but also contain just a lot of vitamins.
How to cook sour apples to be firm and delicious, foodblogger Victoria Petrenko told in Instagram. During their preparation, she used honey and barberry to make the dish even tastier.
Ingredients
- Salt - 2 tsp.
- Honey - 4 tsp.
- Cold water - 2 liters
- Late apples
- Barberry - 1 tsp.
- Mustard powder - 1 tsp.
Method of preparation
1. In a bowl put salt, honey, pour cold water and stir until dissolved.
2. In the jars put apples of late varieties, add barberry, or cherry or currant leaves, mustard powder and pour the brine upwards.
3. Cover with a lid and place in a warm place for 3-4 days.
4. If necessary, add brine. Then transfer to the cold for 1-1,5 months.
