Red currant is a very tasty and healthy berry, it contains a lot of vitamin C, and it is also a versatile berry for making pies, compotes, and dumplings. It makes delicious jams and homemade marmalade.

Ingredients:

  • Red currants – 1 kg
  • Sugar – 2 kg

Method of preparation:

  1. Wash the berries, and separate them from the twigs.
  2. Blend in a blender or pass through a meat grinder and be sure to strain through a sieve so that no bones or twigs remain.
  3. Pour the mashed potatoes into a saucepan, add 1 kg of sugar, stir, and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, be sure to skim off the foam.
  4. Add the remaining sugar, mix thoroughly, and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Pour into sterile jars, twist, and turn them upside down, after they cool, transfer them to a dark, cold place.
