Puffy steamed dumplings: what to add to the dough to make it perfect
Steamed dumplings often do not turn out as fluffy and light as we would like. Thus, it is very important to make a good dough.
A cook shared a recipe for delicious, fluffy and soft steamed dumplings with cottage cheese on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- 250 ml. of warm milk
- 1 tbsp. of sugar
- a pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp. of oil
- 20 g. of live yeast
- 400 g. of flour
Filling:
- 200 g. of 5-9% cottage cheese
- 0.5-1 tbsp. of vanilla sugar
Method of preparation:
1. Add sugar, salt, and oil to warm milk and mix. Next, add yeast, mix well until the yeast is dissolved and then add flour in two stages. Knead the dough first with a spatula and then with your hands on a floured surface. If necessary, add a little flour, but no more than 1-2 tbsp. Cover the dough with a plate or towel and leave it for 10 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, fill a saucepan with half a cup of water and tie in cheesecloth. Put on the fire and bring to a boil.
3. For the filling, add vanilla sugar to cottage cheese and mix well with a fork. If you do not sprinkle sugar on the finished dumplings, add sugar to the filling.
4. Roll out the dough into a layer 2-3 mm thick and use a glass to cut out circles. Put the filling in each one and pinch the edges.
5. Put the dumplings on the cheesecloth and steam for 5 minutes, making sure to cover with a lid. Do not open the lid while the dumplings are cooking!
Put the finished dumplings into a bowl with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar or add berries!
