Gombovtsi is an old Ukrainian dessert made with different types of fillings steamed or boiled. It is very popular in Prykarpattia, and in Zakarpattia it is served in almost every home.

It is a fairly budget-friendly dish, as it is made from potato dough and filled to your liking. Food blogger Maria Tegza shared on Instagram how she cooks gombovtsi with plums. The result is an incredibly delicious authentic dish with a completely new flavor.

Ingredients

  • Mashed potatoes - 600 g
  • Egg - 1 pc
  • Flour - 180-200 gr
  • Plums - 12-15 pcs
  • Butter - 15 g
  • Semolina - 4-5 tbsp
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp.

Method of preparation

1. Boil the potatoes until tender, drain and mash them.

2. Mix the mashed potatoes, egg and flour and knead the dough.

3. Put a plum inside each piece and form balls.

4. Bring the water to a boil, add a spoonful of salt, and put the gombovtsi in it.

5. Melt a piece of butter in a frying pan and add semolina to it.

6. Fry until golden brown and add 60-70 ml of water.

7. Stir well and simmer until the semolina is dry again.

8. When ready, pour it into a bowl and add sugar.

9. Fill the prepared gombovtsi with the semolina mixture and serve with sour cream.
