Pickled plums like olives: a recipe for a win-win snack for the winter
Pickled plums are a great alternative to olives. This appetizer goes well in salads, with meat and fish, as well as on its own. They are spicy, flavorful, juicy, crispy and keep their shape well. The main thing is to choose plums of a small size so that they are evenly marinated.
Food blogger Olha Matvii shared a recipe for pickled plums for the winter on her YouTube channel.
Ingredients for 8 0.5 liter jars
- plums – 2.4 kg
Marinade:
- water – 1.5 l
- sugar – 600 g
- cinnamon – 0.5 tsp.
- bay leaves – 8 pcs
- cloves – 16 pcs
- apple cider vinegar – 150 ml
Method of preparation:
1. Pre-wash the plums, sterilize the jars and lids.
2. Fill the jars with plums.
3. Fill the jars with boiling water and cover with lids. Leave for 20-30 minutes, then drain.
4. Put the water for the marinade on the fire. Add sugar and cinnamon. Stir and bring to a boil.
5. Meanwhile, put bay leaves and cloves in each jar.
6. When the marinade has boiled, add vinegar. Stir.
7. Pour the marinade into the jars. Seal the jars hermetically. Turn the jars upside down and cover with something warm. Leave to cool completely.
