Nutritionists told when to consult a doctor
The reason for visiting a nutritionist should not be overweight, but other, more significant factors.
This was discussed in an exclusive commentary to OBOZREVATEL by nutritionists whom we asked to explain what exactly can be the reason for realizing that it is time to seek help from a specialist.
So, what can be a reason to visit a doctor?
Dietitian Serhii Antoniuk: psychological problems and dissatisfaction with your appearance
"Health problems caused by being overweight. Hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, gastrointestinal problems, etc. Psychological problems and dissatisfaction with one's appearance can also be a reason for visiting."
Dietitian Liudmyla Honcharova: if you are in a difficult psychological state
"The reason to visit a doctor is dissatisfaction with the quality of your life. If you are frustrated, you are depressed, you are in a difficult psychological state, this is the reason to see a doctor. If you have intestinal problems, sleep or memory disorders, and nothing makes you happy, it's time to see a nutritionist.
A depressed state means that your intestines are not working properly, as well as problems with hormones and neurotransmitters, and a psychologist will not help you with this. The psychologist will tell you how to do things, but you won't follow their advice. The gut produces 95% of serotonin, the hormone of joy. If you are constantly depressed, your intestines are in an inflammatory state. Being overweight and dissatisfied with your appearance is too simple, in reality, everything is much more complicated and serious."
Nutritionist Olha Naboka: overweight and diagnosed diseases
"Overweight, diagnosed diseases, or a referral from a family doctor or a specialized doctor."
