Potatoes are by far the most popular vegetable. They are usually used to make the simplest and fastest dishes: fried, mashed, boiled in their skins, or baked. All of this is undoubtedly delicious, but we have to admit that sometimes even the most delicious dishes get boring. That's when imagination and improvisation with ingredients come into play.

The FoodOboz editorial team has prepared a selection of unusual and delicious potato dishes that are worth cooking.

Potato hummus

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes - 250 g
  • Cream - 50 ml
  • Sesame paste - 20 g
  • Sesame oil - 20 ml
  • Butter - 15 g
  • Vegetable oil - 30 ml
  • Onions - 100 g
  • Salt - to taste

Method of preparation:

  1. Peel the potatoes and boil until fully cooked.
  2. Finely chop the onion, and fry over low heat. Then grind it with a blender to a puree.
  3. Mash the boiled potatoes through a sieve or mash them to a puree.
  4. Meanwhile, bring the cream to a boil.
  5. Add the sesame paste, sesame oil, onion puree, butter, hot cream, and salt to the mashed potatoes. Mix thoroughly and let cool.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes - 2 kg
  • Cream - 340 ml
  • Hard cheese - 100 g
  • Salt, pepper - to taste

Cooking method:

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices 1-2 centimeters wide.
  2. Put the potatoes in water, bring to a boil, and remove after 1 minute.
  3. Grate the cheese on a fine grater.
  4. Cover a baking sheet with parchment, put the potatoes, periodically pouring cream and sprinkling with cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Repeat the steps until you run out of potatoes.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees. Cool and put in the refrigerator. Fry in vegetable oil before serving.

Potato tortilla

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes - 500 g
  • Onions - 100 g
  • Olive oil - 3 tbsp
  • Water - 50 ml
  • Eggs - 5 pcs.
  • Salt, pepper - to taste

Method of preparation:

  1. Cut the onion into half circles, the potatoes into slices.
  2. Fry the onion in olive oil.
  3. Add the potatoes and water. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Meanwhile, beat the eggs and add salt.
  5. When the potatoes are fully cooked, put them into the cold egg mixture. Leave for 10 minutes.
  6. Heat the frying pan again and fry the potato-egg mixture until the bottom of the tortilla turns brown and caramelized.
  7. Turn the tortilla to the other side. Fry for another 5 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle with herbs or paprika when serving.
