No need to count calories: the secret of proper weight loss is revealed
If you want to normalize your weight, you shouldn't count the calories in the foods that make up your diet. It is much more important to pay attention to another, more significant, point.
Nutritionist Svitlana Skosar told OBOZREVATEL about this in an exclusive commentary.
According to the nutritionist, when deciding whether you need another meal, you should be guided by the feeling of hunger and the feeling of satiety.
The nutritionist noted that, first of all, you need to determine why you are going to have another snack and what motivates you to do so: hunger or boredom.
"In today's world, for many people, food has become a background accompaniment to watching TV or working on the computer. For a person who is interested in their health, it is extremely undesirable to count calories. A person should be guided by hunger signals.
There is a scale on which you can define your hunger as follows: "a little hungry," "hungry," "very hungry," "ravenously hungry," the nutritionist said, noting that many people face the problem of overeating because they cannot determine the degree of satiety.
According to the doctor, learning to identify hunger is much easier than learning to identify satiety. The feeling of saturation can be determined by the following scale: "light saturation", "full, but I would eat something else", "full", "overeat".
"Many people don't know how to determine the feeling of satiety and face chronic overeating. Such people need to learn to control the feeling of satiety. If a person learns to clearly identify whether he or she is hungry or not, as well as to clearly define the degree of satiety, the problem of excess weight will be solved automatically," the nutritionist said, emphasizing that it is not a matter of counting calories, but of learning to control one's eating habits."
